Personal Rating: I give this gym a V6 rating.
Gravity Vault is a local(ish) chain that has a reputation for having soft climbs and more expensive memberships. However, GV Hoboken is one of my favorite Gravity Vaults in the area.
This gym has a decent workout area, as well as a nice bouldering island and a great variety of top rope, lead, crack, and speed routes. The rope walls are fairly tall and the gym itself is large. The vibes of the gym tends to feel a little corporate and stuffy, but overall it’s not a bad gym. Grigris are required (and provided) for all top rope climbs. The grading is much softer than most of the surrounding gyms, but that makes it a great starter gym for people that might be intimidated by climbing or are just starting out.
Overall, this is a great gym for beginning climbers, or climbers that might climb less consistently but want to be able to practice different styles of climbing. It’s a fun gym to visit for a change of pace, and is arguably one of the best Gravity Vaults in the Northern Jersey area.
