Unique Features: This gym has an awesome lead arch, as well as a full gym for training. The gym is not only massive in size, but hosts events and competitions frequently.

Personal Rating: I give this gym a V9 rating.

Corporate/chain climbing gyms can easily get a bad rap, however Momentum Millcreek is a great example of a chain that is doing everything right. Momentum seems to be one of the big hubs in the SLC area for climbers and is a hot spot for events and clinics. This gym has a great vibe with a ton of different climbing styles, including bouldering, lead, crack climbing, and top rope. The bouldering area is massive, and the workout area includes lots of great equipment to help climbers focus on strength and conditioning. I found the grading to be similar to the gyms I climb at in NJ, however I mostly bouldered during my visit and didn’t spend much time on the rope routes. This gym utilizes the app Kaya to allow climbers to share beta for climbs and opinions on grades, and is also a great way to encourage members to connect and collaborate.

Overall, this is a great all-around gym for climbers of all ages and skill levels. I could easily see myself making this my home gym, and I would love to visit again soon.
